On 9th February 2026, Form 6 students from Dar es Salaam Independent School (DIS) embarked on a study tour across northern Tanzania. The trip was not only educational but also a chance for us to bond, explore, and reflect on the world beyond our classrooms. Each stop offered something unique, and here is our story in our own words.
Our journey began in Moshi, a lively town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Walking through the streets, we felt the rhythm of local life and admired the view of Africa’s tallest mountain. It was inspiring to see how culture, history, and daily life blend together in this gateway town.
Next, we visited Chemka Hot Springs. The turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery felt like a hidden paradise. Swimming in the warm, clear pools was refreshing, but we also learned about the geothermal activity that creates this natural wonder. It was a perfect mix of fun and science.
In Arusha, our focus shifted to academics and the environment.
The highlight of our tour was Ngorongoro Crater. Standing at the rim and looking down into the vast landscape was breathtaking. Inside the crater, we saw elephants, zebras, wildebeests, and even lions. Experiencing such diversity of wildlife reminded us why conservation is so important.
"This study tour was more than just a trip. It was a journey of discovery — about our country, our environment, and ourselves. We learned that education does not only happen in classrooms; it happens when we explore, ask questions, and connect with the world around us."
